Abstract EN
Background: Coronary heart disease is a narrowing of coronary arteries due to accumulation offatty materials (plaque) build-up on its walls.
This disease will decrease the oxygen-rich blood supply.
Coronary heart disease patients will suffer from pain and discomfort known as angina.
Increasingevidence regarding the potential association between periodontal diseases and cardiovascular diseaseshas been identified in recent years.
The available evidence underlines the importance of detectingDNA of periodontal pathogens on atheromatous plaques as the first step in demonstrating the causalrelationship between these two conditions.
