Abstract EN

This study aims to find out about the availability and the order of national identity in light of the educational reforms for the second generation included in the book of “civic education” for the third grade of the primary education.

The study found that the book of “civic education” for the third grade of the primary education under the second generation curriculum did not take the dimensions of national identity in a balanced and equal way as it focused on the national dimension by addressing topics related to Algerian society, Algerian customs and traditions and historical events, and that emphasizes the historical identity and the consolidation and support of the local and national cultural heritage that characterizes the Algerian society, which helps the student to create a more realistic image in his mind on some of the elements of Algerian identity.
