The present study is considered as a pilot study which aims, according to what has been developed in the field psychosomatics and using the descriptive approach to explore mental functioning in 12 people with heart disease or cardiac arrest of personality types "A" and "D" Two “A” and “D” type scales were used to divide patients into two groups according to their personality type.

followed by taking the Rorsach test to investigate the mental functioning of sample members from both groups.

The results of the study demonstrated that the mental functioning of members of the sample of heart patients (type "A" and "type" D ") was vulnerable, characterized by poverty in imaginary space, relatively low mentalization, and ineffective defenses.

However, it is a more fragile deterioration in type "D" patients.
