Abstract EN

Epidemics and diseases throughout history, especially infectious ones, have posed a major challenge to humanity, which had to confront them with different types of medication and treatments to reduce their catastrophic effects.

In Ottoman Algeria, many epidemiological phenomena ensued in society, with which the population has been forced to practice various types of traditional folk medicine in the ence of formal medicine due to the ence of a health policy to deal with pandemics and disease.

In this context, comes the book “Revelation of the enigmas in the exposure of drugs and plants” of the traveler and doctor, ABDELRAZZAQ MUHAMMAD IBN HAMADUSH, as a witness of many methods of treatment and drugs which circulated in Algeria at the end of the Ottoman presence, as well as a reflection of the efforts of one of the Algerian scholars who formed a scientific exception during a period which experienced an excessive tendency to religious sciences to the detriment of other sciences.
