This paper aims al presenting the linguistic concepts related to the classification of the Nubian languages.
It discusses firstly, the controversial issue of the names Nuba and Nubian that show how far this conceptual confusion has led to the investigation of these languages.
It presents the geographical distribution of the Nubian language and the linguistic classification of these related languages, and then it reveals the internal relations in the Nubian languages group.
