Abstract EN
Some medicinal plants have been selected for investigation of their antibacterial activitv against seven bacterial strains of the upper respiratory tract infections.
The extracts of these plants, at concentration 100 mg/ml have been tested.
Acacia nilotica ssp.nilotica, Psidium guagava, and Eucalyptus camaldulensis were the most effective plants.
Maximum activity was observed against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia cCli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Compared to reference Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Compared to reference antibiotics Acacia nilotica ssp.nilotic exhibited broader spectrum of antibacterial activity and was found tobe clearly superior.
These findings should stimulate the search for novel, natural products as antibacterial agents.
