Abstract EN

This study aims to explore legal translation in Algeria, particularly conveying jurisprudence from Arabic into English, especially rulings rendered by the Family Section, as they contain legal terms loaded with Arab-Islamic culture unmatched in the British legal system, which we have chosen for analysis and comparison to highlight the challenges that the Algerian legal translator faces, and the translational efforts exerted by him to convey those notions likely unknown by the British judge, just like jurisprudence brought by the man of law to respond to challenges imposed by the Algerian legal system.

This study has concluded that translational diligence in Algeria has not yet reached jurisprudence levels, due to the translator's lack of legal training and experience in the area of legal translation.
