A book on pre-Islamic poetry« fi chir el jahili » by Taha Hussein is considered one of the critical books that has met with widespread controversy in the literary and critical arenas because of the issues it raised, which many critics see as dangerous questioning the validity of the first source of Arab poetic heritage.

His study of examples of the most important pre-Islamic poets and their poems, using the method of Cartesian doubt and in this article we tried to trace this critical experiment and stand on what Taha Hussein was aiming for in his study, where we presented some of questions that touch the depth of this topic and surround its edges, to address it in an appropriate way, we employed the two approaches: historical and analytical.
