Difference contouring map for Iraq between Clarke 1880 and WGS84 systems

Abstract EN

An ellipsoid defined with orientation and position as well as size and shape is known as geodetic datum.

However, usere are very often confrsed by various geodetic and grid systems presented on maps and plans.

In IRAQ, the adopted datum has been established using Clarfo!880 as the reference ellipsoid.

In the same time, Transverse Mercator Projection was used for the rectangular grid system.

This research introduced the results and the isolines contours map of geodetic transformation between Clarkel880 and WGS84 (Areference ellipsoid for GPS receivers) for a defined triangulation points distributed along the Iraq map.

The shift parameters towAn the two systems have been cuculated for each triangulation point.

the result also showhatthre is no significant difference in the geographic coordinate between the two systems.

It is noted that the WGS84 heights are generally higher than the Clakel 880 heights with the magnitude dependent on the height of ©ach triangulation point.
