The scale of successiveness is not the successive rule, but means to make the rule successive.

The successive rule is the one that has no exception.

The scale of successiveness changes the grammatical rules that involve exceptions into successive rules with no exception involved.

The rules are of two types: original and subsidiary.

If the original rule is succeeded, there will be a scale of successiveness and collocation, but if the subsidiary rule is succeeded there will be a scale of successiveness only.

The scale of successiveness deals with things which are irregular as far as the entiy or the original rule is concerned; it also deals with the differences of the grammarians’ points of views in some of the parts of the entry to specify the irregularity and to make the rule general involving no exception, varieties and ramification.
