Moufdi Zakaria’s poetry contains a huge amount of cultural, religious and historical elements -that are obvious to the reader - which are combined in a unique style called intertextuality.

Needless to say that this method, especially what the poet derived from the words of the Holy Qur’an, its stories, systems and even its rhythm sometimes, gave the poem's terms and verses a revolutionary glow, granting the revolution holiness and illustrating beautifully its horrors This article discusses the translation of intertextuality and its impact on the translation process.

The poet of revolution’s style sparked our curiosity to question the ability of the translator to transfer into French the various elements of intertextuality encountered in the Iliad of Algeria.

In this research paper, we follow an analytical path to contrast the chosen intertextual elements of the Iliad and their translation, to see whether the translator succeeded or failed in conveying those intertextual segments, as well as the methods that he might have resorted to skip those stakes.
