The path of freedom of expression in various countries of the world has known a change according to the historical and social conditions that each country has gone through.

In France, for example, the march for freedom of expression went through two important stages.

The first was before the revolution of 1789, and the second was after the revolution.

The pre-revolution period knew strict control over the issuance of publications in general and the only authorized printing in that era was that which was not subject to state policy or disturbed those in charge of its affairs.

After the revolution, various rights and freedoms were enshrined in the French constitutions, where freedom of expression was given special attention.

And then every citizen has the right to speak, write and print freely, and it becomes accountable only when this freedom is abused in the cases specified in the law.

In Egypt, the issue of freedom of expression has been one of the important issues in various Egyptian constitutions since the monarchy, as the latter consecrated that freedom, whether it was before or after the January 25 uprising.
