Abstract EN

This study aims to assess the economic role of the tourism sector in Algeria during the period 1990-2019, by analyzing the performance of some of the indicators mentioned in the report on the competitiveness of the global tourism and travel sector, as it was found that the contribution of tourism activity to the national economy is weak, and we also relied on the standard approach for the purpose of Knowing the economic impact of the tourism sector using the ARDL model, and the results indicate a co-integration between the study variables, as well as a significant positive impact of tourism revenues, number of hotels, exchange rate fluctuations and inflation on the nominal GDP.
