This research paper aims to define the concept of linguistic coexistence as a socio-linguistic phenomenon prevalent in many societies, including the Algerian society.

Achieving linguistic coexistence between national languages in one geographical area is not an easy matter, but rather it is the result of concessions and sacrifices made by the supreme authority in the country and citizens alike, and this would preserve and achieve national identity and unity.

So what is the concept of linguistic coexistence? What is the relationship between it and linguistic security? How do the Arabic language and the Berber language coexist in Algerian society? Our research paper concluded that the relationship between the Arabic language and the Berber language is an integrative relationship that has existed since the existence of the Arand the Berbers themselves, and that the promotion of the two languages as the languages of the Algerian nationalism is a necessity and basis to ensure the country's progress and its national and linguistic security.
