Abstract EN

This study deals with the migrant and refugee crisis in the Mediterranean region, beginning in 2011, based on the concept of mixed migration.

So that focus was on two different approaches to analyze the response of the European Union countries to this crisis: the first approach focused on the state and related to the concept of national security, and the second approach focused on people and related to the concept of human security.

Based on the two approaches, this study aimed to identify the nature of the European Union's response to the migration crisis in the Mediterranean, and after analyzing the data, it was found that the European Union countries failed to balance the requirements of their national security and the human security of migrants, after security considerations prevailed over the humanitarian considerations that It is at the core of its international obligations.
