Abstract EN

"The study aimed to know the reality of the use of information and communication technologies and their applications, such as social networks and e-mail, for the purposes of scientific communication among faculty members and their assistants at Fayoum University, by revealing the most commonly used applications in scientific communication, usage rates, the extent of the ability to use, and the differences between the use of e-mail applications and social networks in carrying out scientific communication activities, monitoring the motives for use, obstacles and challenges, as well as knowing the extent to which the study members benefit from the capabilities and technical services provided by the university to enhance scientific communication, and to explore their views in it.

In order to achieve the objectives of the study.

The researcher used the field, descriptive method, and questionnaire tool.

The study reached several results, most notably that the sample members were able to adapt a number of information and communication applications in scientific communication, But they still tend to use more general technical applications than specialized (closest to the academic community).

Mobile applications, social networking, and e-mail came in the first three ranks respectively in terms of the frequency of daily use.

It was found that there are good infrastructure basics at Fayoum University, but they need further development.

There is a need for more programs to train the faculty members on the use of technical applications for scientific purposes.
