Abstract EN

This research paper aims to determine the impact of some economic and social characteristics of the heads of families on the average annual per capita household spending on animal protein food groups in Egypt .

The study relied on five characteristics of the head of the family, which are the educational status, the practical situation, the main occupation of the head of the family, the main sector in which the head of the family works, and the age.

To analyze the effect of these characteristics, the research applied some statistical tests of two-way analysis of variance and the least significant difference (L.S.D.) test between the average expenditures on animal protein food groups, which included meat group, fish group, dairy, cheese, and eggs group.

The results of a two-way analysis of variance showed that the educational status of the family head has a significant effect on the food spending of the fish group.

The practical situation of the head of the family had a significant effect on the food spending of the fish group and dairy, cheese, and eggs group.

The main occupation of the head of the family had a significant effect on the food spending of the meat group and fish group.

The main sector in which the head of the family works had a significant effect on the food spending of all groups.

The age of the head of the family had a significant effect on the food spending of the meat group and dairy, cheese, and eggs group.

The results of the least significant difference (L.S.D.) test indicated that the statistical significance of the annual per capita consumption in urban and rural areas of fish, milk, cheese, and eggs was confirmed in the case of educational and practical status.

The results also indicated that in the case of the main occupation of the head of the family, the main sector in which the head of the family works, and the age the statistical significance of the annual per capita consumption in urban and rural areas of the all groups; meat, fish, milk, cheese, and eggs was confirmed.
