This research aims to study the financial deepening in the Algerian economy during the period (1990-2018), and its impact on economic growth as a factor contributing to the boost of the real economy, by using The Autoregressive Distributed Lag model (ARDL).

The results of the study indicates a long run equilibrium relationship between financial deepening and economic growth.

The results also indicated that financial deepening causes economic growth in the long run as well as in the short run when measured by the amount of credit to private sector.

In order to promote economic growth, the government must make an effort to improve the financial depth of its liquidity ratio.

Special efforts should be put to provide easy credit to private sector and stock market development.
