Abstract EN

This scientific paper aims to shed light on a concept that has recently been addressed in official and academic fields, which is social entrepreneurship, and to stand on the knowledge and technical boundries of the concept as a social phenomenon emerged in the beginning of the 1990s, in comparison with the concept of entrepreneurship on the one hand and philanthropic organizations on the other hand, in addition to identifying overlaps and distinctions between the two concepts, based on some criteria as: meaning and goals, determinants and causing factors, entreprenor's caracteristics and human and material ressources.

The research paper concluded that social entrepreneurship is a hybrid combination between entrepreneurship and philanthropic organizations, which derives its basic characteristics from entrepreneurship and shares it with it, namely: profit, opportunities, innovation and risk, and it derives the distinctive character from philanthropic organizations: the social mission.

Thus it differs from the entrepreneurship in the: purpose of creation, value creation, uniqueness'social entrepreneur, diversity of funding sources.
