This research studies the semi-pause.

This artistic sub-phoneme practiced in Arabic heritage has serious impact on the correct intonation and quality.

This phenomenon – jointly with intonation - greatly contributes to profiling sentences to their syntactic genre and semantic analysis.

This paper explores the phenomenon under discussion using six classical-Arabic poetic examples selected from pre-Islamic to the fifth Hijri century, analyzing them both theoretically and laboratory using PRAAT program; thus, stressing the fact that such idea is still vivid in our literary heritage, while having its both structural and semantic dimensions.
