Abstract EN

The dowry is a fundamental right of the wife in marriage contract.

In this regard, the Algerian legislator has affirmed it as a necessary condition in the marriage bond according to Article 9 bis of the Algerian Family Code.

It also sets its terms in Articles 14-15-16-17 of the same law.

Among judicial verdict, concerning the dowry is considering it a woman's right to control it, as she wants.

Additionally, the legislation identifies the cases of a wife's entitlement to the full or partial dowry.

Through Article 17 of the Family Code, The legislator also tried to resolve disputes that arise over the dowry without – displaying the forms of this dispute.
