Abstract EN

Within the framework of research interest in the phenomenon of health communication in light of the health crises, the world is witnessing, especially the Corona pandemic that swept the world.

The role of the media has emerged in strengthening the guidelines of the World Health Organization to educate the public about this epidemic, and how to follow the precautionary measures.

The medical drama is a television format that presents health and medical information to the audience interestingly and narratively.

However, few studies have focused on the audience's view.

This study explores the motives for watching medical dramas and their gratifications from the perspective of uses and gratifications (U&G).

This survey was determined to measure the motivations of young people from media, medical and health sciences students towards watching medical dramas and the relationship of these motives to health issues, audience activity (selectivity, attention, needs, and behavioral participation), and their use of health information from dramas.

The theoretical and practical implications of these results were discussed.
