Abstract EN

The era of the Almoravids (448-541 AH / 1056-1147 AD) was an era of openness to the Christian community whose role increased significantly and effectively within the authority and society in the Islamic Maghreb compared to previous eras in which there is hardly any mention of the dhimmis among the Christians.

I was interested in the history of the Islamic West to regard the era of the Almoravids as an era of tribulation, persecution and restriction on Christians, especially in Maghreb, based on a group of events preceded by the incident of the displacement of the treaty Christians from Granada in the year (520 AH -1126 AD), and other incidents such as preventing Christians from establishing their churches in metropolitan Maghreb.

Based on the above, we will try through this research paper to highlight the Christian presence in the Maghreb during the Almoravid era, where we will aim through this work to trace their areas of concentration, their patterns of life and the reasons for their migration to an environment completely different from their original homeland in Andalusia, where And how this affected the way they integrate into the Almoravid society in Morocco, as we will review their roles in society and within the Almoravid authority, and their impact on the structure and capabilities of the army, not to mention the reality of the treatment that Christians have received in the Maghreb, and their rights that mainly include freedom of religious practice, and the right to justice before legislation Islam, while trying to break the knot of conflicting narratives regarding the issue of the acceptance of Christians into Moroccan society.
