Abstract EN

Significance of this study titled: Afareet of the Egyptian Mahmal during the Mameluke Sultans' Era (648-923 H/ 1250-1517): A Historical Study stems from the premise that Pilgrimage (Hajj) and protection of hajjes was the Mamelukes' weapon to interfere in the Hijazian affairs.

Moreover, the Mamelukes' celebration of the mahmal's Afareet was among the extensive policy of the Mamelukes' celebration of the Pilgrimage (Hajj) season as a tool for expressing the Mamelukes' sovereignty over the Hijazian territories as well as a way of announcing, asserting and circulating their political proclivity there where there was the Rea Sea, its trade, the Meccan and the Medina Holy Harams and their significance.

This study aims as an attempt to illuminate the methods, techniques and tools adopted by the Mameluke to join the Hijaz region to their control manipulating Hajj and its celebrations represented in the Mahmal celebrations and its circulation as a basis for such control.

Thus, the researcher firstly scrutinizes the factors that led to the emergence of Mahmal's Afareet.

Then, the researcher scrutinizes origin of them through answering the question “Did the Mahmal's Afareet exist before the Mameluke Era or not? Then, this article seeks to monitor and trace places and times of the celebrations of the Mahmal's Afareet.

After that, the researcher describes the celebration aspects for that event.

Moreover, this article tackles deviation of the Mahmal's Afareet form their main objectives in the Jarkasian Mamelukes' Era as well as providing an attempt to analyze this in order to illuminate the main real objective, its tools and its techniques during this age.

in addition, this research provides as attempt to determine effects of this event from various perspectives in addition to measuring its role in directing political, economic, social and religious events.
