Abstract EN

The Iraqi narrative criticism has accompanied the intellectual transformations that have emerged on the world stage and the emergence of modernist approaches that are interested in text and language without neglecting the external factors affecting it.

The structural formative approach is perhaps one of these approaches, which has attracted the attention of Arab critics.

The paper tries to determine the extent to which Al-Bakri benefited from this approach in his narrative criticism over four decades.

It can be concluded that, despite his awareness of the merits of this approach, he did not declare it in his critical analyses, but it was manifested in his criticism which has focused on the search for small structures in the text, and linking them to the great structures represented by reality.
