This research attempts to highlight the role of the notary and the forms of documentation in almohad state.

notaries had a major and active role, given the documentation services they provided that preserved contracts, covenants, and transactions for most of the classes of the society.

given the importance of this role in maintaining societal peace among individuals in almohad state, only governors then judges were entrusted with appointing this category.

this research is an attempt to discover this category by presenting, broaching, and detailing the following set of points: • appointment of the notary in alMohad state between the authority of the governors and judges.
