The study mainly aimed to identify the problems of teaching the course “Arabic Language Skills [1]” from the viewpoint of students who undergo the unified scientific stream at Taibah University.

It also aimed to investigate the differences in the opinions of these students regarding these problems with the consideration of both genders (males and females).

In order to achieve the aim of this study, the researcher followed the descriptive survey method.

So, a questionnaire was designed containing 56 problems, which were classified under four related axes concerning the methodology, the teacher of the course, students and administrative systems and the environment.

After verifying the validity and consistency of the questionnaire, a random sample of 179 students was selected from students who studied the Arabic Language Skills [1] course in the second semester of the academic year 1439/1440 AH at Taibah University.

The study data was statistically processed and the results revealed that the axis of students suffers from major problems, with an arithmetic average of 3.77.

It is followed by the axis of administrative systems and the environment with an arithmetic mean of 3.45, then the axis of the teacher of the course with an arithmetic mean of 3.41 and lastly the axis of methodology with an arithmetic mean of 3.32.

There were no significant differences at the level of 0.05 in the problems of course teaching between the views of male and female students.

Depending on these results, the researcher recommended benefiting from the integrative approach in developing the Arabic Language Skills course [1], so that the content can balance between conceptual knowledge and language skills, focusing on the linguistic practices of listening, reading, speaking and writing, in addition to matching the course’s subjects with students' levels and their professional needs and preparing a document for teaching Arabic at the university level
