Abstract EN

This study aimed at revealing the effect of electronic support (summary / detailed data) through social networks, such as Twitter, on the development of cognitive knowledge and performance of programming skills of first-grade students receiving computer training as part of the overall computer curriculum for first-grade students at Abu Ishaq school in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The study population included 219 students for the academic year 2019/2020.

As for the study sample, it consisted of two randomly selected divisions.

The study followed the semiexperimental approach (design of two independent groups).

The study data was collected using the achievement test and observation card.

The study data was analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program and the t-test was used to study the differences between the arithmetic averages of the two experimental groups.

ETA square was used to measure the effect size.

The results of the study revealed that there is a significant impact of having electronic support on the development of cognitive and performance aspects of programming skills.

The results also showed significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the average scores of the first experimental group that obtained summary support and the second experimental group that received detailed support in favor of the second experimental group.

The study recommended the adoption of detailed electronic support through social networks in teaching and le arning processes, as well as training teachers on how to employ electronic support in various learning situations
