One of Islamic Fiqh issues which raise debate every now and then is the issue of the Ruling that “Sale of debt for debt is prohibited.

” Perhaps, one of the most relevant topics with regard to this issue, which are usually discussed whenever argument about this issue arises, is the topic of: “Future Contracts”.

As known to specialists, Fiqh scholars' councils and Shariah bodies agreed upon the prohibition of future contracts, such as: International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA), which is affiliated to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation; Islamic Fiqh Academy, affiliated to the Muslim World League; the Sharia Council, affiliated to Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions; and others.
