Abstract EN

One of the most important and widespread forms of the freedom of expression is the media freedom, especially in the context of technological evolution and prevalence of democratic principles.

While media plays a touching role in various areas of life increasingly, States employ such role for media to achieve their political aims.

For example, coverage media was used by some States as a effective mean to overthrow a numbers of political regimes during what is called the Arab Spring.

Moreover, media was relied upon by terrorist groups and ideological extremists.

Thus, these groups supported their activities and objectives and their ideas become more influenced the public opinion.Based on the mentioned above, the public order would be threatened and then the media should be controlled and restricted.

In opposite, this requires some guarantees which can protect the constitutional public freedoms against abuse of governments to its power restricting the public opinion.

This why the author addressed the problems mentioned above under the title "A role of the Communications and Media Commission in protecting the public order -A Comparative study-".

This study is divided into two sections.

While the first explains the concept of public order and its relationship to the media, other section discusses methods followed by CMC in order to protect the public order.

In addition, basic findings and recommendations which would be reached by the author will be set in a conclusion.
