شكلت مسألة الأسرى الأسبان بمدينة الجزائر إحدى أهم القضايا التي نوقشت بين البلدين من خلال المعاهدات أو المراسلات بين الحكام وضمن الأسرى وجدت عناصر تخلت عن الديانة الكاثوليكية وانضمت إلى الديانة المحمدية عرفوا بعدة أسماء "المرتدون أو المسلمون الجدد"، أحدثت هذه الفئة جدلا واسعا في الأوساط السياسية والدينية وحتى الشعبية بإسبانيا الكاثوليكية لهذا كان على عاتق رجال الدين والآباء الفادين الإسراع في عملية الاسترداد حتى لا يكون الأسرى الآخرون عرضة لخطر الارتداد، ورغم جهود هؤلاء في تثبيت الحياة الروحية فهذا لم يمنع العديد من الأسرى والجنود من اختيار الإسلام وقد تباينت مواقف الحكومتين من مؤيد ومعارض لمسألة تحرير واحتضان هذه الفئة.
Abstract EN
The issue of Spanish captives in Algiers was one of the most important issues discussed between two countries; it has been done through treaties or correspondence between rulers.
amongst captives, there were people that had abandoned catholic faith and joined Islam, they got new names were called renegades or new Muslims.
the issue of renegades caused widespread controversy in the political, religious and even popular circles in catholic Spain.
therefore, it was the responsibility of the redeemers to free the remaining captives so that they would not convert themselves to Islam.
despite their efforts to make spiritual life more stable they haven’t prevented many captives and soldiers from choosing Islam.
the positions of the two governments differed regarding support or opposition to the issue of liberating or even embarking this particular group.
