Abstract EN

A 44-year-old female who developed angina pectoris due to coronary spasm (Prinzmetal angina) after 5- fluorouracil administration is described.

Her clinical presentation was that of typical rest angina pectoris after receiving a course of 5-fluorouracil chemotherapy for colonic cancer.

Electrocardiogram (ECG) during chest pain showed widespread ST segment elevation.

Her angina pectoris responded promptly to sublingual nitrates and the ECG normalized.

Coronary angiography proved the presence of normal coronaries.

Calcium channel blockers were given and prevented further episodes while 5-fluorouracil therapy was continued.
