Abstract EN

Four sites were identified within the province of Nineveh to study the phenomenon of Lead adsorption and dispersion between the liquid and solid phases of the calcareous culture based on the concept of diffusion coefficient (Kd) and the concentration of different concentrations of Lead (0-100 mg L-1).

The results of the study showed an increase in the distribution of Lead between the liquid and solid soil phases with increasing added levels.

The values of the diffusion coefficient (Kd) ranged between 126.24-149.86 and an average of 136.37 L kg-1.

The values of the adsorption coefficient (Kf) according to the Frendelach equation ranged between 1.61-18.87 and an average of 6.91 L kg-1.

The highest and most significant effect of soil reaction (pH) -0.39, clay -0.33, carbonate minerals -0.54, exchange capacity of positive ions -0.61 and sand 0.42 in the distribution of Lead between solid and liquid soil phases.

The adsorption coefficient (Kf) was inversely correlated with carbonate, indicating clearly that the deposition of Lead on the adsorption process was highly corrosive due to the increasing decrease of the Ksp values of the Lead.

The exchange capacity of positive ions was the second phase in the adsorption process, on adsorption of Lead in the adsorption process.

We conclude from this that the introduction of high concentration of metal pollutants, Lead to the soil environment, some of them are adsorbed and held by soil droplets and the remaining ones remain in the liquid phase, causing many environmental pollution problems.
