The study aims at showing the impact of K.W.L Chart Strategy on the Achievement and Retention of the third stage students of the Arabic Depart- ment , College of Education in the Methods of Teaching Arabic.

The research- er employs the experimental method to test the following two hypotheses.

1-There are no statistically significant difference at a significance level (0.05) between mean achievement scores of the experimental group which study Methods of Teaching Arabic through K.W.L chart strategy, and mean achieve- ment scores of the control group which study the same subject by using the traditional approach.

2.

There are no statistically significant difference at a significance level (0.05) between mean retention scores of the experimental group which study Meth- ods of Teaching Arabic through K.W.L chart strategy, and mean retention scores of the control group which study the same subject by using the trad- itional approach.

The study is limited to the students of the Department of Arabic , College of Education , University of Misan of the academic year 2012-2013 , and the topics of the Methods of Teaching Arabic according to the syllabus approved by the Minsitry of Higher Education .The researcher designs an achieve- ment subjective test according to the behavioural objectives.The researcher approves the validity of the test by showing it to a jury , while its reliability is achieved by (test, re-test), which scores reaches 80.0 .

After applying the test in its final form , the data is collected and processed statistically.The findings have approved the significance of K.W.L Chart Strategy on the Achievement and Retention of the third stage students of the Arabic Depart- ment , College of Education in the Methods of Teaching Arabic.

Then the researcher gives some recommendations and suggestions
