Abstract EN

Ibn Rushd, the grandson (Averroes) is of one of the most important Muslim philosophers in Andalusia.

He grew up in a house of science and culture, and despite the difficult circumstances that surrounded in terms of enemies of thought, he remained committed to his philosophical thought which widely spread after his death.

The Jews and Christians contributed greatly in the widespread of his philosophical thought and because they had kept copies of his books and translated them into their languages.

His disciples, as well, also played a role in spreading his philosophical notions in Andalusia.

Ibn Rushd excelled in many sciences, including medicine, where he excelled over Muslim and non-Muslim philosophers with regard to medicine.

He disagreed with Galenus's medical opinions and made a major development in the medical aspect, especially in terms of scientific thinking and not in medical practice.

He admitted that he did not practice medicine, save only on himself as well as some of his family members and relatives where he heavily relied on experience and inference.
