The countries of the African Sahel suffer from internal armed conflicts that have led to contempt for the security situation, political stability and violation of human rights in the region, which prompted the international community to intervene to remedy the situation.

These conflicts in the countries of the African Sahel, and the extent of the success of external interventions in achieving security and stability in the region, and accordingly the following problem was raised: How successful are external interventions in limiting the spread of internal armed conflicts in the countries of the African Sahel? One of the most important findings of this study is that most of the internal armed conflicts in the region originated because of the religious conflict, which escalated to the point of the struggle for power
