English Abstract
Pope Francis's historic visit to Iraq is a significant and considerable one.
It could be seen as a sign of peace to the whole world more than just a theopolitical visit.
In the same vein, one might see that visit as a realization and reminder of the desperate and even neglected need for restoration of the human spirit afflicted by politicized religious violence.
It was a mission of peace over politics.
This four-day visit has its significance not only for Iraqi Christians whom the Pope tries to shore up; but also, to the majority of Iraqi people, namely the Shiites by visiting the Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani.
Besides, it has great impact on the whole world by visiting the birthplace of prophet Abraham.
Mesopotamia and particularly Ur is a blessed place since it has given birth to the three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
