Osteopoikilosis : case report and review of the literature

In this case report of a 20-year-old military man, we present the clinical, laboratory and radiological findings of osteopoikilosis with focus on the radiological appearance and nucleotide bone imaging of this rare disease.

Osteopoikilosis should not be difficult to diagnose when the roentgenograms demonstrate the characteristic multiple small, round or ovoid circumscribed spotty densities involving certain bones.

Since imaging findings in this disease can simulate bone metastasis, early diagnosis of osteopoikilosis would prevent the patient's apprehension and the extensive work-up for the primary tumor.
