Abstract EN

This article deals with the scientific life, through dating and investigation in the East of Algeria in the VI century.

We try, thoroughly, to shed the light on one of its scholars in this case ChihabEddine El-Tifachi.

He was born in Tifach region which was the beating heart of Numidia Civilization.

Archeological signs, ruins and monuments, scattered on its territory stand as a witness to a succession of civilizations, Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Vandals, Muslims, and French.

Each period of civilization was featured by its outstanding scholars; during the Roman reign in Algeria, the novelist Lucius Apuleius and Saint Augustine were the prominent figures; the scholar Chihab Eddine El-Tifachi was an eminent figures during the Almohad Caliphate and the Islamic estates in the Islamic Maghreb.

He was a multidisciplinary scholar and a prolific writer.

However, the book “ Azhar el Afkar fi Djawahir el-Ahdjar” is considered as an Encyclopedia in Geology which is translated in different languages: Latin, French, English and German.

In this intervention, we highlight all these traits with reference to bibliographies and sources that dealt with the life and pathway of this scholar.

Besides, the French studies on the region of Tifach, like French Reports of Military Administration staff known by “Archeological outings”, civil servants of mixed halls “civil servants” through their annual Reports “Monographs”, and the writings of Town Hall presidents of ample prerogatives.

It is worth noting that contemporary studies, dating this scholar, are shard to find.
