دلالة همزة "أفعل" و وظيفتها النحوية في ديوان الأدب للفارابي (ت 350ه)‎

Abstract EN

When receiving a letter of addition, the basic verb acquires a new significance different from the initial one.

The Arabic verbal form “af-ala” (to make someone do something) is famous with its transitive meaning requiring an object or two.

The addition of this glottal stop “hamza” does not prevent the verb from acquiring new significance that contributes to the enrichment of the language, as testified by Arabic dictionaries.

This is what we are attempting to explain in the present study, by highlighting the grammatical function of the new verb structure, relying on “Diwan al-adab” as a source in consideration of the approach adopted by its author to ordering the dictionary's entries.
