Abstract EN

This research aims to study irony in one of Nassif Al-Yazji’s Maqamat , Bahrain Complex, to reveal the components of the ironic text based on an applied model called: Al-Maqamah Al-Suarriah , in an attempt to answer the following questions: What are the deep connotations and hidden messages that are ironic paradoxes in Al-Maqamah? What is its impact on the formation of the elements of the comic- ironic text? Accordingly, the research is divided into three sections: patterns of irony, argumentative dimensions of irony, and the most prominent ironic narrative components in Al- Maqamah.

to the research uses the deliberative method as a procedural tool to reveal the semantics of the hidden meanings of irony in Al-Maqamah and its role in shaping the narration elements in the text.

The research reached several results including that irony kept appearing in Al-Magamah from beginning to end, varying between a hint and a statement, in the sense that it enabled the author to reveal reality and criticize negative phenomena in an attempt to treat and change within the story of its funny comic events, which is not the goal in the first place, but the artistic template that carries indirect criticism of society in order to look more impressive and convincing.
