Abstract EN

This research deals with the phenomenon of multiple narrations of one and the same poem in old Arabic poetry, with an eye on determining whether such changes and modifications were intentional or not.

The researcher traces the manifestations of these changes, as well as points out that some of them are only partial changes within the same line of poetry due to changes in the names of tribes, people and places, as well as some vocabulary items.

Changes, however, sometimes extend to include the meanings and images, ending up with a complete change at the text level.

This research deals with some cases in point, such as two poems by Umru Al-Qais and Alqama bin Abda with the same rhyme, two other poems by Umru Al-Qais and Bishr ibn Abi Khazim with the same rhyme again, and, finally, the elegy reported by Badi al-Zaman al-Hamadani, which was claimed by some other critics and narrators to Amr ibn Ma`di Karib al-Zubaidi.
