Abstract EN

This article seeks to investigate the critical thinking of the writer and critic Habib Mounsi and the extent to which he has been affected by traditional and Western heritage.

His cognitive diversity, whether in Western or Arab thought, emerges from the multiplicity of sources and branches.

This path which a talented writer takes is evident to everyone, writer or critic.

It is the reservoir from which he draws his thoughts and which constitutes the cornerstone of providing and explaining the arguments and critical proofs, so that it will be the main basis for the creativity process in its various fields.

From this standpoint and starting from the above mentioned statement, we wanted to survey the references from which Habib Mounsi set out in establishing his critical speech.

Since every discourse relies on a reference, the treatment of this reference involved an attempt to adapt it to the modern and contemporary Arabic text.

Habib Mounsi tried hard to combine heritage and modernity in establishing for a systematic Arab critical discourse.

This is evident through his adherence to the heritage and its investment in reading, deduction, handling and employment, as it is thus no less important than the current modernist thought.
