English Abstract

Orientalism emerged out of the Europeans’ curiosity to the fascinating civilizations of what they considered as being « the other ».

Indeed, orientalism exerted a considerable influence in post colonial studies and generated rich debate among Western and eastern scholars and writers.

On the eastern part, controversial views and opinions arose among scholars with regard to the study of orientalism.

There were those who rejected completely orientalism being a concept that originated from Western values and beliefs.

On the other hand, another group of Muslim scholars consider orientalism from a more objective way.

In this light, the present intervention is concerned with Muslims’ reactions towards orientalism and states whether they are for or against the concept.
