Abstract EN

This study dealt with the reality of using public libraries in the municipalities of Irbid Governorate from the point of view of their staff, and the statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the averages of the respondents’ answers attributed to the variables of gender, specialization and profession using the field survey method to conduct this study.

The study population is represented by 50 of the public library staff in the municipalities of Irbid governorate, > 32 staff responded, (64%), and the study tool was represented by a questionnaire designed for this purpose, and its validity and reliability were verified.

Results showed that there is a significant weakness in the use of public libraries and their resources of various forms by users.

The results also indicated that the purpose of using public libraries by the users is to complete school and university duties (84.4%), followed by reading (81.3%), then preparing research (71.9%) and finally reviewing what is recent in public libraries (18.8%, 8) Findings indicated that there were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α = 0.05) between the averages of the respondents' answers about the reality of using public libraries affiliated to the municipalities of Irbid Governorate from the viewpoint of their staff attributed to the variables: gender, specialization and profession.
