Competition legislation has a significant impact on promoting existing investments and attracting new foreign investment, as well as achieving an advanced level of consumer protection and preserving intellectual property rights.

Competition law contains conventions and practices regulating competition, agreements affecting competition, the abuse of the dominant position, and the organization of mergers and acquisitions.

It also provides for the penalties imposed by law on violators and the reconciliation in competition cases in accordance with the law and the conditions of reconciliation.

The dominant position of any project may take a negative and illegal course by achieving large profits at the expense of the market and other commercial companies.

In this regard, we have sought to identify the dominant position in the Emirati and the European Union laws by defining the abuse of the dominant position and the conditions for its occurrence, in order to give the readers a broad understanding of this concept in the Emirati law.
