The investigation was carried out in the laboratories of the Biological Control Research and Studies Center at the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Damascus in 2017.
The aim of the investigation was to evaluate the effectiveness of some ethanol and aquatic extracts of the Tagetespatula L.
(the whole plant), Melia azedarach L.
(fruits and leaves), Inula viscosa L.
(leaves), and Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehnh.
(leaves) was assayed against M.
incognita and on percentage eggs hatching.
Results showed that ethanol extracts of tested plants were significantly superior in killing M.
incognita compared with aqueous extracts.
Ethanol and aqueous extracts of Inula viscosa were the moS efficient in killing M.
incognita, with a corrected mortality of 85.40% and 65.55% respectively, at 25 g/kg concentration, after 2448 hours.
It was followed by the ethanol extract of fruits of Melia azedarach which produced a higher in mortality of M.
incognita activity when compared to the aqueous extracts.
Results showed that the ethanol extracts were significantly superior in reducing the eggs hatching root knot nematode M.
incognita compared with aqueous extracts.
The eggs hatching rates of ethanol extracts of Inula viscos and fruits of Melia azedarach at the ethanol control were 89.4% and 97.51% respectively,compared with 90.60% and 97.18% respectively at aqueous control.
In addition, the results showed that the pesticide effect of aqueous and ethanol extracts increased with long exposure.
Finally, the results of the assay of tested plant extracts indicate that they possess potential nematicidal activity.
