The study aimed to identify the common linguistic errors among the students of the department of curriculum and instruction at the faculty of education, al-Aqsa University in addition to detectiing differences in these errors attributed to the sex ( male students - female students), and specialization (teaching Arabic language - teaching other disciplines).

the researcher conducted his study in the first semester of the academic year 2017-2018.

he used the analytical descriptive method.

he chose a random sample consisting of 337 male and female students.

he constructed a list comprising of 46 common linguistic errors.

he then built an objective test in the light of the list as the study tool.

one of the findings of the study is that two items of the test did not constitute common errors in the sample as the percentage was less than the percentage adopted by the researcher for considering an error as common based on the previous studies (25%) and more ).

item no (38) in the test and item number (39) got ( 19.3% ) and (23.7%) respectively.

the rest of the test items constituted common errors as the prevalence of error ranged between (26.1%) to (81.1%), and the prevalence of errors in the items of the test as a whole reached (53%).

there were no statistically significant differences between male students' mean scores and that of female ones in common linguistic errors.

there were statistically significant differences in the common linguistic errors attributable to specialization and in favor of students majoring in other disciplines such as basic stage education, social studies, science teaching since the mean of errors in other disciplines was (22.69) which is higher than the arithmetic mean of the specialization of Arabic language teaching which was (20.57).
