Abstract EN

The study deals with the (Calamity of Covid-19) and its impact on the jurisprudential rulings related to the establishment of Friday prayers and congregational prayer in Western countries.

I also shed light on what the definition of a calamity is, and the rules for Ijtihad concerning it, and I indicated the flexibility of Islamic law in dealing with the emerging jurisprudence calamities.

The study also focused on the most important rulings that a Muslim living in Western countries needs relating to gathering to perform the five daily prayers and what is related to Friday prayers at home or behind a live broadcast.

It also dealt with the ruling on having multiple Friday prayers performed in one mosque one after the other on the same day, as is the case of the city of Hamtramck an American town, where the first Friday prayer is followed by a second and third Friday prayer to reduce the number of gatherings inside the mosque at one time, without violating the instructions and regulations that are in force.

The study also researched the ruling of spacing in prayer under the pandemic and the covering of worshipers mouths with masks during prayer to limit the spread of the infection.

Then the study concluded with the ruling on gathering in order to pray Eid prayer and preventing the infected from attending the Friday Prayer and congregational prayer.
