Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying degree of using authentic assessment strategies, tools and their application obstacles from perception of geography teachers, on a sample consisted of (73 male and female ) of geography teachers.

authentic assessment questionnaire was prepared by the researcher for this purpose, and its validity and reliability were verified.

means, standard deviations and relative weight were used as statistical methods in this study.

the study results appeared moderate degree of using authentic assessment strategies and its tools by teachers.

results also assured that the most obstacles for using authentic assessment strategies from perception of geography teachers represents in difficulty applying some authentic assessment strategies in our schools, scarcity of evidence for the teacher that assist him to plan and implement realistic evaluation.

added to that results showed no statistically significant differences in degree of using attributed to variable of sex, scientific qualification and years of experience at (alpha less than or equal 0.05), in the light of the study results, the study recommended preparing a guide for teachers containing description of authentic assessment strategies and their application examples.

the study also recommended training teachers on using authentic assessment strategies and how to employ its tools and to offer the necessary possibilities to implement authentic assessment in our palestinian schools.
